Indian packaging films producer Cosmo Films (New Delhi; www.cosmofilms.com) did well in the financial year 2020/21 to 31 March: the company said profit after tax more than doubled to the equivalent of almost EUR 26m, while turnover increased slightly to around EUR 265.7m.

Chairman Ashok Jaipuria said the reason for the growth was an increase in sales of special films: “We also benefited from the high demand for packaging and value-added films during the pandemic-related national lockdown.” These accounted for 62% of the company’s total sales in FY 2021, up from 47% in the previous year. Jaipuria said he expects sales to continue to grow between 8% and 10% a year in the medium term.

With nearly 1,000 employees and four Indian production sites, Cosmo Films manufactures a range of goods, including 196,000 t/y of biaxially oriented polypropylene films (BOPP).
