Turkuaz Polyester (Istanbul; www.turkuazpolyester.com.tr), by its own account the country’s largest polyester resin producer, announced the construction of a second plant for resins, gelcoats, and pigment pastes at its site in Kocaeli, Turkey. No information was provided on the amount of the investment.

The additional capacity for all three product groups is set at 200,000 t/y, which would triple the current production volume of 100,000 t/y. Unsaturated polyester resins make up 90% of the total capacity. Commissioning is planned for next year.

Meanwhile, Russian oil and chemical giant Tatneft (Almetyevskadmin; www.tatneft.ru) is reportedly building a plant for resin precursor maleic anhydride at the same Kocaeli site.
