Turkuaz Polyester (Istanbul; www.turkuazpolyester.com.tr), by its own account the country’s largest polyester resin producer, announced the construction of a second plant for resins, gelcoats, and pigment pastes at its site in Kocaeli, Turkey. The additional capacity for all three product groups is set at 200,000 t/y, which would triple the current production volume of 100,000 t/y. Unsaturated polyester resins make up 90% of the total capacity. Commissioning is planned for next year.
Meanwhile, Russian oil and chemical giant Tatneft (Almetyevskadmin; www.tatneft.ru) is reportedly building a plant for resin precursor maleic anhydride at the same Kocaeli site.
