For an undisclosed sum, packaging manufacturer Constantia Flexibles (Vienna; www.cflex.com) has acquired Hungarian Lászlópack (Komárom; www.laszlopack.hu). The manufacturer of flexible packaging, founded in 1998 by the László family and currently led by CEO Szabolcs László, produces flexo printed packaging for the food industry. The production facility, located about 100 km northwest of Budapest, currently employs 87.

Constantia has been expanding its flexo printing portfolio in recent years – through the acquisitions of Turkish manufacturer Propak (Dücze; www.propak.com.tr), UK’s FFP Packaging Solutions (Northampton; www.ffppkg.co.uk) and most recently Polish film and packaging manufacturer Drukpol Flexo (Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki; www.drukpolflexo.pl). The Austrian firm had repeatedly announced its intention to grow not only organically but also through acquisitions.

With 8,700 employees at 37 locations in 17 countries, the group produces flexible packaging for the consumer and pharmaceutical industries, with plastic packaging accounting for almost half (44%), the rest being aluminium and paper solutions. Around 76% of the most recent turnover of EUR 2.1 bn is from the consumer sector, and 24% from pharmaceutical packaging.
