The self-proclaimed largest packaging manufacturer in Serbia, Comex (Sabac; www.comexsabac.com), has announced that it is expanding its film production with the addition of a third blown film line. The new line is a Polyblown five-layer system from machinery manufacturer Colines (Nibbia, Italy; www.colines.it) with a capacity of around 3,500 t/y. Comex did not disclose the amount invested.

With the installation, the total capacity of the two existing blown film lines – including one from Macchi – will almost double from the current 4,500 t/y.

Comex, which employs just over 100 people, produces mono-, three-, and five-layer coextruded films, primarily based on LDPE. The films, some of which are metallised or laminated with polypropylene and PET films, are subsequently printed and converted. End-use markets include frozen foods, confectionery, coffee, detergents, hygiene products, and pet food.
