Polyols based on renewable feedstock launched for PU market / Similar moves targeted for other products
Italian PU specialist Coim (Settimo Milanese; www.coimgroup.com) has launched a new series of polyester polyols based on renewable raw materials, marketed under the brand name “Diexter E”. The company did not disclose details of the feedstock but said the physical-mechanical properties of end properties made them well suited to the PU market.
The “Diexter E” series, the result of research and application work carried out by the group’s R&D centre in Offanengo, can be processed in standard equipment for both CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers) and microcellular, flexible and rigid foams, requiring no additional investment by PU producers.
CEO Lucio Siano commented: “Everyone is aware of the increasing need to preserve fossil oil reserves and reduce waste generation and CO2 emissions. By the launch of the Diexter E polyester polyol series, Coim wants to give its contribution to the reduction of the carbon footprint. Similar initiatives are going to be implemented for other business lines in the near future.”
