Chemical Recycling Europe (CRE, Brussels; www.chemicalrecyclingeurope.eu) will hold its 2026 annual conference in Brussels on 30 September. The event brings together industry representatives, policymakers, and technology developers to discuss the regulatory, market, and technological conditions needed to scale chemical recycling in Europe.

Under the theme Getting Ready for 2030 Targets: Powering Circular Plastics Made in Europe, the conference will focus on how the chemical recycling sector can contribute to Europe’s circularity targets.

The first session will examine chemical recycling as a pillar of European resilience, with speakers from the European Commission, Systemiq, Dow, and Eunomia discussing the evolving regulatory landscape, including the PPWR, and global policy enablers.

A second session will address growing demand for circular plastics, with representatives from Mondelēz, Unilever, and Aldi discussing sourcing, market barriers, and expectations in the retail sector.

The third session will provide updates from CRE members, including Plastic Energy, Promeco, Aduro Clean Tech, BlueAlp, SynPet, and Helix Projects, covering technology development, scaling and integration, and upcoming final investment decisions.

The final session will focus on the technical challenge of upgrading recycled output for demanding applications, with speakers from Ghent University, Sabic, and Shell.

The conference will conclude with the announcement of the incoming CRE president.
