Chem-Trend (Howell, Michigan / USA; www.chemtrend.com) has added “Lusin” Clean 1100 to its range of high performance purging compounds. The material has been developed to make the colour and material change process for injection moulding machines more efficient, with early results showing a reduction in use to make a complete switch in colour or material of up to 35%.
A cut in scrap of over 90% has been achieved by users during the initial evaluations in testing, the company said. The material has also been developed to produce less smoke and lower odour than products on the market presently, helping to improve working conditions within thermoplastic processing facilities.
The product is suitable for use with a broad range of polyolefins and engineering plastics and is stable at temperatures up to 320 °C. It is safe and effective for use in screw and barrel assemblies, hot runners and gates, the company said.
