CELANESE
Purchase of Nilit's PA compounding business / Global footprint extended
US chemicals and plastics producer Celanese (Dallas, Texas; www.celanese.com) has completed its acquisition of the PA compounding division of Nilit (Migdal Haemeq / Israel; www.nilit.com). The takeover, originally announced in February – see Plasteurope.com of 03.02.2017 – boosts Celanese’s presence in the global PA market, adding plants in Germany and China. Nilit will retain its polyamide fibres and polymerisation businesses, including facilities in Israel, the USA, China and Brazil.

Scott Richardson, senior vice president of Celanese’s engineered materials business, noted that polyamide use is increasing in growth industries where the US group is already focusing significant development activities. The company will integrate Nilit’s production plants and portfolio, which includes grades such as “Frianyl”, “Nilamid” and “Ecomid”, into its engineered materials division.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
