Under the brand name "Cartonplast", Cartonplast Trading GmbH (PO Box 3008, D-63120 Dietzenbach) – a 100% subsidiary of the Italian Karton SpA (I-33070 Caneva/PN), which is responsible for sales and exports in Europe – offers sheets made of polypropylene random copolymers. This "Alveolar Sheet", which is available in various designs and dimensions and named after the PP material of Alveo AG (Bruchstr. 67-69, CH-6003 Luzern), is used in packaging systems for food and health products. According to the company it replaces cardboard and wool "without problem."

"Polikart" (extruded PP) is used as an intermediate layer, for example in pallets. In refrigerators and vehicles, "Cartonplast" is used as an insulation material and in agriculture as a covering material. When printed by means of screen printing or flexographic processes, the sheet can also be used, for example, for promotion and advertising. Its particular advantages, in comparison with conventional materials, are its great rigidity, due to a doublewall structure, and the resulting high mechanical resistance and the low weight of the PP material. – A recent increase in Cartonplast Trading's share capital to DM 3m from DM 50m was designed to underscore its intention to expand, particularly in Europe, where most of its export-oriented business is directed, the company told PIE.
