Additives manufacturer BYK (Wesel, Germany; www.byk.com), part of the Altana Group, has introduced two heat stabilisers for polyamides. The new products, BYK-MAX HS 4316 and BYK-MAX HS 4317, are designed to limit thermo-oxidative degradation and help preserve material properties during prolonged exposure to high temperatures, the company said.

BYK-MAX HS 4316 is an organic stabiliser intended for filled and unfilled polyamide compounds, particularly in automotive, industrial, and technical consumer applications where long-term retention of mechanical properties is required.

BYK-MAX HS 4317, meanwhile, uses an inorganic stabilisation system designed to combine thermal resistance with improved electrical neutrality. Target applications include electromobility and electrical components. The additive is suitable for unfilled, mineral-filled, and fibre-reinforced polyamides, the company added. According to BYK, fibre-reinforced compounds can achieve heat-ageing resistance exceeding 3,000 hours at 150°C.
Both additives are making their trade fair debut at Fakuma 2026, which is taking place from 12 to 16 October in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
