Polyolefin producer Braskem (Sao Paulo / Brazil; www.braskem.com) has picked thermoplastics distributor Resinex (Arendonk / Belgium; www.resinex.com) as its partner in “Medcol”, a new PP portfolio designed for the European healthcare industry.

Medcol grades are especially developed for blow-fill seal and extrusion applications. Braskem manufactures them using a phthalate-free catalyst technology and tests products according to ISO10993 as well as European and US pharmacopeia standards.

A good example of the Medcol portfolio is the V4020 grade. It offers very good processability, softness and transparency properties. A combination of the latest catalyst technology and less usage of additives makes this grade very safe for parenteral packaging applications. As Medcol is still a fairly young product portfolio, solutions are being developed to meet the specific needs and requirements of the medical market.
