Austrian producer Borealis (Vienna; www.borealisgroup.com) has announced it will launch "Borcycle" plastics recycling technology at the “K” 2019 trade fair in Düsseldorf / Germany. Borcycle will be used to produce compounds made of recycled polyolefins (POs), such as the new “Borcycle MF1981SY”, which is a 10% talc-filled PO compound containing over 80% recycled material. MF1981SY is intended for use in visible black parts, for example in small appliances, and will be available to customers in Europe.

Borealis and its subsidiary mtm plastics will also showcase a series of improvements to existing recyclate in the “Purpolen” portfolio – see Plasteurope.com of 11.11.2015. “Purpolen PE FF” is a fine-filtered recycled polyethylene, which the company says has an improved gel level via extrusion setup, and “Purpolen PE Y01” is a 100% post-consumer recyclate with a low melt flow rate for extrusion of pipes or large bottles. “Purpolen PP Y40 A” is a recycled polypropylene with higher and improved flowability.
