Sale of aircraft wing production plants in UK and Morocco / Resin injection process for composite parts
Aircraft manufacturer and railway specialist Bombardier (Montréal, Québec / Canada; is restructuring due to weaker forecasts for aircraft orders. The company has lowered its sales forecast for 2019 by EUR 1 bn and plans to sell two plants from its former Aerostructures subdivision. One is located in Belfast / UK and is strongly oriented towards composites, the other in Casablanca / Morocco specialises in metal processing.

In future, all aviation segments are to be combined in the newly established Bombardier Aviation division. They will be grouped around its sites in Montréal, Mexico and the US plant in Red Oak, Texas that Bombardier acquired from competitor Triumph.

The plant in Belfast primarily manufactures wings for Bombardier’s former “C-Series”, which was sold to Airbus in 2017 and is now on the market as the “A 220” – it is no longer part of the company’s integrated value chain. The facility additionally manufactures several other components, such as the centre fuselage, turbine blades and stabilisers. All parts are produced by resin transfer infusion.
