— By Plasteurope.com staff —

Dutch chemical recycling technology company BlueAlp (Eindhoven; www.bluealp.nl) and compatriot chemical storage service provider LBC Tank Terminals (Rotterdam; www.lbctt.com) have secured a EUR 1.5 mn grant from the European Union’s Just Transition Fund (JTF) Rijnmond programme.

Announced on 16 June, the funding is to support the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase of a planned large-scale chemical recycling plant in the Rotterdam area.

The FEED study is to assess technical feasibility, engineering, logistics, site implementation, terminal integration, permitting, and financing for the project.

The partners said they plan to co-locate BlueAlp’s recycling plant at LBC’s existing terminal site in the Port of Rotterdam. According to the companies, the arrangement is expected to create synergies through heat integration and transport optimisation, reducing CO₂ emissions and improving project economics.

LBC said its existing infrastructure as a storage operator for pyrolysis oil would support integration of the facility into the regional value chain.

The JTF is intended to help European regions accelerate the transition towards climate neutrality through sustainable industrial development, innovation, and investment.
