Flexible packaging and technical film manufacturer Bischof + Klein (B+K, Lengerich / Germany; www.bk-international.com) has extended its Class 5 Cleanrroom facility to meet rising demand for high-purity packaging. The facility in Lengerich has been increased to 2,700m2 and the production cells, which include a new module with a high-performance automatic punching machine, are connected to a new warehouse. The punching machine produces single- and two-ply cover sheets from Tyvek (DuPont’s hdPE fibre) for disposal syringes. A fully automated adjacent line applies the initial protective packaging.
The closed-loop Cleanroom also includes lines for extruding PE films and for converting sacks and bags, as well as a laboratory. Bischof + Klein said that space is available for gradual expansion in the future as it anticipates a further increase in demand.
