BIESTERFELD
Distribution of Solvay's sulfone polymers in France
Biesterfeld (Hamburg / Germany; www.biesterfeld.com) has taken over the French distribution of sulfone polymers made by Solvay (Brussels / Belgium; www.solvay.com). The agreement covers the brands “Udel” (PSU), “Radel” (PPSU) and “Veradel” (PESU). With the exception of Italy, the German company is now responsible for selling Solvay products throughout Europe, including the UK.

Recently, compounder Nevicolor (Luzzara / Italy; www.nevicolor.it) assumed responsibility for the Italian distribution of Solvay’s aforementioned brands (see Plasteurope.com of 15.03.2021).

Udel is an impact-resistant, high-strength and transparent polysulphone. Due to its high heat resistance and higher hydrolytic stability versus polycarbonate, the product family is mainly used in medical devices. Compared to the polysulphone, the polyphenylsulphone Radel offers even higher chemical resistance with equally good impact strength. The polyether sulfone Veradel also has flame-retardant properties.
