BIEGLO
Rods and sheets made of high-performance plastics PAI and PEI
German PEEK materials distributor Bieglo (Hamburg; www.bieglo.com) has expanded its portfolio to include polyamide-imide (PAI) and polyetherimide (PEI) semi-finished products, part of efforts to sharpen its focus on high-performance polymers. PEI is an amorphous plastic with a glass transition temperature of 217 °C and a high dielectric strength. PEI semi-finished products are flame resistant with little smoke output, according to the German company. Bieglo's portfolio contains extruded PEI rods of 5-100 mm diameter and sheets of 3-100 mm thickness.
PAI has a glass transition temperature of 277 °C and can be used at temperatures as low as -270 °C. Bieglo notes PAI is more impact resistant at low temperatures than other polymers. PAI can be injection, compression and roto-moulded, as well as extruded. Bieglo offers extruded PAI rods with diameters of up to 250 mm, as well as sheets and reinforced semi-finished products.
