The new Ultrason P portfolio complies with Regulation (EU) 2024/3190, which came into force in January 2025 and prohibits bisphenol in food-contact materials and articles, BASF said.
BASF’s new range includes grades designed for easy mould release while enabling a range of colour options, from opaque to translucent, either as compounds or with masterbatches.
According to the company, the grades also offer temperature-independent mechanical properties, high resistance to many detergents, oils, fats, and superheated steam, as well as “superior toughness and good dimensional stability”.
They are suitable for a variety of household articles, including catering dishes, baby bottles, and microwaveable containers, the firm added.

BASF noted that PPSU is not affected by the ban and “can serve as a robust material solution for customers having to change the material basis of their food-contact applications”.
