New effect pigments add colour to ”Firemist” range / Applications include packaging
BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) has completed its “Firemist” range of effect pigments with the addition of two new shades, "Velvet Gold" and "Velvet Russet", to the portfolio that also consists of pearl (white), bronze and copper pigments. Along with decorative interior paints, applications include upscale designer packaging.
BASF said the product family offers “unique and warm design options” with an aged effect and an attractive textured surface. When exposed to indirect lighting they appear elegant and matt whilst direct lighting produces a gently sparkling effect. In addition, their velvety haptics create a “comfortable, warm atmosphere.”
In early December the company announced plans to lift pigments capacity at its headquarters in Ludwigshafen (see Plasteurope.com of 10.12.2015), after having previously lifted production at its site in Nanjing / China.
