German chemicals giant BASF (Ludwigshafen; www.basf.com) has announced a range of leadership appointments. First in the latest round of musical chairs is the promotion of Sanjeev Gandhi, current head of the Intermediates business division, to the group’s board of directors, effective 1 December 2014. Here, he will oversee BASF’s activities in Greater China and SEA. Gandhi first joined the company in 1993 and has held a number of positions both in Germany and Asia since.
He will be succeeded as Intermediates head by Stefan Blank, current senior vice president and managing director of BASF’s New Business, who will in turn be replaced by Guido Voit, senior vice president of Intermediates Asia Pacific.
There will also be a change at the head of BASF’s Performance Chemicals business. Current president Hans-W. Reiners will take over the Care Chemicals division on 1 January 2015, and will be replaced by Christian Fischer, who currently oversees Advanced Materials & Systems Research.
At the management board level, Andreas Kreimeyer is set to retire on 30 April 2015. His role as executive director of Research will then go towards Martin Brudermüller, who will be placed in charge of the company’s Intermediates, Monomers and Petrochemicals businesses, among others.
The executive board will also implement another round of changes on 1 May 2015, redistributing responsibilities for its various businesses.
