New organization for Asia / Hambrecht goes to Hong Kong
As of September 1, 1995 the People's Republic of China, South Korea and Taiwan will be excised from the South and East Asia/Australia Regional Division of BASF AG (D-67056 Ludwigshafen) to form a new Regional Division – East Asia. Head of this division, with headquarters in Hong Kong, will be Dr Jürgen Hambrecht, at present head of the Engineering Plastics Division. The remaining part of the old Regional Division, to be termed South Asia/Australia, will continue to be headed by Helmut Becks, with headquarters in Singapore. BASF: "This organizational adjustment takes account of the growing importance of the Asian economy and will help BASF take even better advantage of the opportunities for growth in this region." – Dr Hambrecht will be succeeded as head of the Engineering Plastics Division on July 1, 1995 by Dr Werner Prätorius, at present head of the Polystyrene Business Unit.
