The retirement of Werner Prätorius (59), a familiar figure in the European plastics industry and currently president of the petrochemicals division at BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com), on 30 April 2006 will touch off a game of “musical chairs” in the group´s executive quarters. Albert Heuser (50), current head of the Ludwigshafen site, will take over petrochemicals on 1 April and be replaced in his present slot on 1 February by Harald Schwager (45), now president of the inorganics division.
Ehrenfried Baumgartner (53), who now serves as president of the styrenics division, will take over the inorganics division on 1 January 2006. A month earlier, Hans W. Reiners (42), who made a name for himself as president of the agricultural products division, will assume responsibility for styrenics. His successor in agriculture will be Michael Heinz (41), who is now group vice president for global strategic marketing in that division.
