Plans to boost UK output of calcium-based PVC stabilisers
German additive manufacturer Baerlocher (Unterschleissheim; has announced its intent to increase production capacity for calcium-based PVC stabilisers by 50% at its Bury / UK plant with the addition of new mixing and granulation units in 2022. Neither financial details of the company’s investment plans nor the current or expected sizes of available output at the site were disclosed.

Baerlocher said the expansion will support strong demand from applications using virgin and recycled PVC, and the move reinforces its commitment to post-Brexit UK and Irish markets.

“Our customers rely upon local security of supply, product consistency and speed of response from established and reliable sources,” said Andrew Tate, head of PVC additives for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “The capacity increase delivers on this need and will also support the anticipated new demand for solid calcium-based systems due to increasing regulatory pressure to convert from existing liquid stabilisers in many PVC applications.”
