Capacity raised again with recent commissionings in Spain and Germany / Focus on speciality compounds
At its headquarters in Bühl and at its Spanish location in Huesca, German compounding specialist Bada (Bühl; www.bada.de) celebrated two commissionings of new production lines in June. With the expanded production facilities, which the company says will focus primarily on speciality production, the German compounder has increased total capacity to 30,000 t/y of engineering thermoplastics (PA, ABS, PBT) and themoplastic elastomers. A little over a year ago, Bada had raised capacity to 24,000 t/y in response to increasing demand – see Plasteurope.com of 17.08.2012.

In the business area of speciality compounds, Bada is convinced there is a healthy potential for development in the segment as well as new applications to be found. The company also praised the high flexibility of its new facilities, which, following a batch change, allow for the possibility of transitioning from strand pelletising over to underwater pelletising.

In addition, the company has also installed a new TPE line. According to Bada, utilising a new mixer concept, it now has the ability to colour engineering plastics as well as batch sizes under a tonne.
