Acquisition of Schwenk's EPS and XPS activities / New German market leader for EPS insulation materials
The German EPS insulation materials market leader Schwenk Dämmtechnik (Landsberg; www.schwenk-daemmtechnik.de) is divesting its core business activity. In a transaction the financial details of which were not disclosed, the group’s EPS and XPS business will become part of Bachl (Röhrnbach / Germany; www.bachl.de) on 1 January 2013. The deal includes Schwenk’s four German plants. The Landsberg-based group said it would now focus on providing services and producing glass wool at its plant in Bernbach / Germany.
The purchase of Schwenk’s EPS and XPS business will raise Bachl’s staff numbers by 300 to about 1,800 employees. Bachl had acquired Schwenk’s Hungarian subsidiary Nikecell earlier this year. The Röhrnbach-based company operates two other EPS production sites in Germany, in Röhrnbach and Paitzdorf. It also operates an XPS plant in Tittling, a PU and PE construction film facility in Freyung, as well as a Perlit production plant in Porschendorf. Outside of Germany, the group also operates production facilities in Brno and Bohumilice / Czech Republic and Toszeg / Hungary, and also has sales offices in Austria, Italy, Croatia, Romania and Poland.
