Building on their longstanding cooperation, Indian composites manufacturer Kemrock Industries and Exports (Waghodia, Vadodara District; www.kemrock.com) has acquired an 80% share in Italy’s Top Glass (Osnago; www.topglass.it). In acquiring the majority share in the Italian pultruded composite profiles manufacturer, Kemrock is hoping to extend its expertise in the pultrusion field.
The two companies first cooperated in 2006, partnering on producing centrifugally cast composites lighting poles for the Indian market. Once the deal is complete, Top Glass managing director Alfonso Branca will continue to head the Italian company.
Kemrock’s portfolio includes gratings, poles, pipes, scaffolding, pultruded profiles and windmill blades, as well as polymers like epoxy, polyester and phenol. At the beginning of May, the company officially inaugurated a new 400 t/y carbon fibre plant, at an investment cost of about EUR 36m. The company generated sales of about EUR 62m in 2009.
