Plastic canister producer AST Kunststoffverarbeitung (Erndtebrück / Germany; www.ast-kanister.de) has announced that it will invest in a 3,000 m² competence centre for HDPE recycling near its headquarters. The company, a manufacturer of containers, drums and bottles, said it has set a long-term target for increasing the amount of recyclates used in its products and aims to supply its own sustainable line of raw materials made from post-consumer and post-industrial HDPE.
AST is collaborating on the project with Lindner Recyclingtech (Spittal an der Drau / Austria; www.lindner.com). The companies plan to design and install a plastics recycling line, with Lindner Recyclingtech providing the complete system solution, including its shredder technology. The Austrian company’s subsidiary Lindner Washtech (www.lindner-washtech.com) is providing washing and sorting equipment and project engineering. The recycling line is expected to be operational by summer 2021, according to Harald Hoffmann, managing director at Lindner Washtech.
