"PackTheFuture" award 2017 for ten products / Winners announced at "interpack" in Düsseldorf
Ten kinds of plastics packaging were honoured with the "PackTheFuture" award (www.packthefuture.com) on 9 May 2017 at the plastics trade fair "interpack" in Düsseldorf (see Plasteurope.com of 15.05.2017). This is the third edition of the award that is an initiative of two trade organisations: the German plastics packaging industry association Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen (IK, Bad Homburg; www.kunststoffverpackungen.de) and the French plastics and flexible packaging association Elipso (Paris; www.elipso.org). Of the 37 entries, almost half were in the "Ecodesign" category (recyclability, reduction at source, weight reduction). This year a "Save Food" category was introduced.
The winners in the Ecodesign category were Alpla ("HDPE-bottle from 100% recycled material from the Yellow Sack" collection), Coveris Rigid France (integrated pre-printed bottle "Optys decorated bottle"), Feurer Febra ("Modular airpop insulation packaging with approval for hazardous goods") and Sealed Air ("Cryovac Sealappal PSF ZAL"). The construction company Knauf Industries received the prize in the "Product Protection" category ("Airpop protection for fire hydrant"). The winners in the "Social Benefit" category were Emil Deiss ("Universal Plus bin liners"), Flexico ("SafeGrip" child protection for bags), Kisico ("NFCap" for digital product information) and Sealed Air ("Cryovac Oven Ease"). The new prize for the Save Food category went to Schaumplast Nossen ("vakuVIP Thermobox").
