Ashland (Dublin, Ohio / USA; www.ashland.com) is to acquire a composite resins manufacturing facility in Étain / France from resins producer Reichhold (Research Triangle Park, North Carolina / USA; www.reichhold.com). Reichhold has about 50 employees at the facility, which produces unsaturated polyester resins (UPR) – used in end markets including transportation and construction.

Reichhold said the divestment is part of its previously announced programme to merge with composites specialist Polynt (Scanzorosciate, Bergamo / Italy; www.polynt.it) – see Plasteurope.com of 19.05.2016.

"This transaction is a unique opportunity to strengthen Ashland's position in the European composites market at a highly attractive price, and with very compelling terms and conditions," said Andy Johnston, Ashland vice president for composites.
