Arkema (Colombes / France; www.arkema.com) has expanded its “Orevac” family of tie layer resins with the introduction of Orevac 18362, characterised by what it calls “excellent clarity” and high adhesion to EVOH barrier films and polyamides contained in multilayer PE film used to package fresh foods. The new grade complies with both FDA and EU food regulations, Arkema said, adding that the LLDPE has been fine-tuned to increase its transparency over the other members of the Orevac family.
Orevac 18362 can be processed on standard extrusion lines, and is suitable for blown film, cast coextrusion, tube extrusion as well as blow moulded multilayer structures. After having been successfully tested by French sustainable packaging solutions specialist Leygapack (St. Romain Lachalm; www.leygapack.com), the latter has now adopted the new grade for its EVOH in multilayer barrier films.
