Producer of FRP pipes to expand global capacity / Export represents 50% of sales
Amitech Germany GmbH (D-04720 Mochau; www.amitech-germany.de), a producer of pipes made from glass fibre-reinforced plastics (FRP) has received subsidies of more than EUR 1.65m for the new construction of a 4,000m2 production hall from the Sächsische Aufbaubank. Company director Hans-Jürgen Rother is investing a total of EUR 8.5m in the expansion of the company´s production facilities. Construction work on the new building is scheduled for October 2003. The expansion creates 60 additional jobs with 40 more to be employed by 2006.

In 2002, Amitech posted sales of EUR 20m. At present, exports to countries such as Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Central Asia are responsible for about 50% of the company´s profits. After the expansion is completed, the production site´s annual output capacity will rise from 210 to 600 km of pipes. The company (formerly Flowtide Rohre Deutschland GmbH) was taken over by the Amiantit group (31421 Dammam / Saudi Arabia; www.amiantit.com) in 2001.
