Roofing manufacturer Alwitra (Trier / Germany; www.alwitra.de) is heading towards a change of ownership. For an undisclosed sum, French private equity firm Naxicap Partners (Paris; www.naxicap.fr) plans to soon acquire the Trier-based flat roof specialist, pending approval by the regulatory authorities.
The departing managing shareholder of Alwitra, Joachim Gussner, is aiming to find a follow-up solution for his company. “Naxicap Partners helps companies to accelerate growth, win additional market share and drive internationalisation, especially in the relationship between France and Germany too,” he said.
In the planned internationalisation of Alwitra’s market presence, Naxicap wants to exploit the industry expertise of Onduline (Yainville / France; www.onduline.fr) – the specialist for pitched roofs and façade solutions has been part of the Naxicap portfolio since 2017 and is active in more than 100 countries. Apart from that, it will not be in competition with Alwitra, which means the Trier-based company will acquire an additional platform for international business expansion.
The Alwitra management will remain on board, and Gussner will continue to serve the company in a consulting capacity. In Germany, the company claims to be the market leader in plastic roof and waterproofing membranes for flat roofs. Outside of its home country, Alwitra’s projects include the Stonehenge visitors centre in the UK, the “Dubai Mall” and the “Esplanade” culture centre in Singapore. With around 300 employees, Alwitra most recently posted annual sales of around EUR 80m.
