Alpla Werke Alwin Lehner (Hard / Austria; www.alpla.com) has recently begun commercial production in Vietnam. Since July, the new plant in Ho Chi Minh City has been manufacturing packaging solutions for the household and body care segments in South-east Asia. The initial capacity is around 100m units a year. The facility employs a workforce of around 150 on a production area of 11,000 m². The investment is said to have been roughly EUR 10m.

In addition to its latest opening in Asia, the company also has a production facility in Thailand and five plants in China. Employing more than 13,000 individuals globally, the Austrian packaging specialist has 149 production sites in 39 countries and recorded revenues in 2012 of EUR 3 bn.
