Flexible Packaging segment sells French plant to Spanish company PlastiEnvase
Since 1 February 2009, the flexible packaging plant of Alcan Packaging (Paris / France; www.alcanpackaging.com) in Arras has been operating under the aegis of PlastiEnvase (Villarrubbia / Spain; www.plastienvase.com). Alcan's "Food Flexible Packaging" division sold the production facility to the Spanish company for an undisclosed sum. It now operates under the name PlastiEnvase Francia sarl.
PlastiEnvase itself employs 247 people at two sites, and, following the takeover, now has a further 182 in Arras. The company produces 6,000 t of plastics packaging a year, some of it multilayer film. It works mainly with PET/PE, OPP, PP, and PA/PE, with polyolefins accounting for two thirds of its film production.
