Akwel Automotive’s (Champfromier / France; www.akwel-automotive.com) plant expansion in Gebze / Turkey has been officially inaugurated. The company’s president Mathieu Coutier himself cut the ribbon at the ceremony.

The new building contains units for extrusion, assembly and storage that have in part been operational since the start of 2019. The extrusion and autoclave lines started up in April, and capacity here was expanded by 40%. No details were given on the size of the investment. Akwel also plans to increase the number of employees to 900 by 2020.

The French specialist for fluid management and mechanisms, which operated under MGI Coutier until 2018 – see Plasteurope.com of 13.06.2018 – extrudes pipes and hoses at its facility in Gebze. Akwel’s customers include automotive manufacturers such as Ford Otosan, Renault and Jaguar Land Rover.
