US-based Addivant (Middlebury, Connecticut; www.addivant.com) has added three new coupling agents to its “Polybond” range – 7200, 3249 and 3349 – to benefit polyolefin processors and wire and cable compounders. “Polybond” 7200 has been designed to deliver optimum dispersion and physical properties in natural-fibre reinforced polyolefin applications such as injection-moulded automotive parts, profile extrusion and laminated packaging. Addivant said the agent offers the highest level of performance in adhesion and filler coupling and is already seeing high levels of adoption in the market.
Polybond 3249 and Polybond 3349, when used with magnesium hydroxide or alumina trihydrate halogen-free flame retardants, allow wire and cable compounders to optimise physical properties while also achieving excellent dispersion and melt flow stability, said Addivant. Applications include building wire, communications cable, and automotive wire and cable.
Adam Watson, business development manager for polymer modifiers, said: “These three “Polybond” coupling agents represent the beginning of a planned series of new product launches in our polymer additives business. In the coming years, our “Polybond” and “Royaltuf” polymer modifiers will continue to see enhancements, designed to offer our global customers the broadest possible portfolio.”
Addivant was the former antioxidants and UV stabilisers solutions business of Chemtura which was acquired by private equity firm SK Capital Partners (New York / USA; www.skcapitalpartners.com) in May 2013 – see Plasteurope.com of 06.05.2013.
