The benzene plant at BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.de) at the Group´s main site in Ludwigshafen is being partially restarted following the blaze there two weeks ago. On 26 July 2007, around 50% of the 300,000 t/y capacity will be "on-spec", said company spokeswoman Birte Kattelmann in answer to an enquiry from PIE. She nevertheless admitted that it would take at least a week or two before more precise information concerning the section of the plant directly affected by the fire could be made available.
