Austrian machinery maker Starlinger (Vienna; www.starlinger.com) plans to install its first “recoSTAR PET 215 iV+” machine to recycle post-consumer PET bottles in Turkey.

The food-grade PET bottle-to-bottle recycling system is being supplied to rPET flake producer Başatlı (Başiskele, Kocaeli / Turkey; www.basatli.com.tr) at its plant in the Kocaeli province in April 2022. The evaluation of the project by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA, Parma / Italy; www.efsa.europa.eu) is currently underway. Equipped with one of Starlinger’s biggest extruders, the recoSTAR produces up to 2,400 kg rPET per hour. Once fully operational, the rPET line is expected to have a capacity of around 18,000 t/y.
