Effective from 1 October 2017, Evonik's (Essen / Germany; www.evonik.com) Methacrylates division has appointed Nordmann, Rassmann (NRC, Hamburg / Germany; www.nrc.de) as exclusive distributor for its standard methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomers in Europe (excluding the CIS region). NRC recently took over distributor Melrob (Crawley / UK; www.melrob.com – see Plasteurope.com of 22.09.2017), which has been distributing Evonik's MMA monomers in the UK since 1995.

In addition to standard MMA, the distribution agreement includes "Visiomer" methacrylic acid (GMAA), the hydroxy esters HEMA and HPMA as well as the butyl methacrylates i-BMA and n-BMA. From 1 January 2018, methacrylate-based speciality monomers will also be added to the agreement.

MMA is, among other things, a precursor for PMMA and used as a monomer component in paints and adhesives.
