BYK Additives & Instruments (Wesel / Germany; www.byk.com) broke ground on its new 50,000 m2 integrated site at the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park. The site, where R&D, technical services, logistics and administrative activities will take place, cost over EUR 30m and will serve as the company’s base for continuing their operations in China and the Asia-Pacific region. The ceremony was attended by members of the senior management team as well as from the Shanghai administrative commission.
According to Fu Dechun, managing director of BYK Greater China, “Shanghai is of strategic significance for the future long-term development of BYK and the Altana Group,” as it ensures their long-term leadership in multiple business areas. Gerd Judith, managing director of BYK Additives & Instruments, points out the site’s focus on R&D, since it will feature a state-of-the-art application laboratory. Construction is forecast to be completed by the second half of 2018.
