PLASTIC FANTASTIC
All is not lost
When Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel tried out new head protection in his Ferrari during the recent British "Grand Prix", there was an awakening in the plastics industry. The polycarbonate windscreen codenamed “Shield” was tested as better protection from flying debris. But the source of excitement for PC manufacturers didn't lie with the new safety features. Simply using words like “windscreen” and “polycarbonate” in same context again gave rise to new hopes that were thought to be dead. Or, to put it more elegantly, “As soon as one gives up hope, everything is lost.” At the end of the day, only one thing was lost though, and that was Vettel's race.
