Handmade leather seats, gold-plated rims and a customised engine – all things that make a car lover’s heart beat faster. The first touch of the lovingly stitched seat, the first moment the motor roars, the feel of the wheels on the open road. For some, that will remain a pipe dream forever – unless they get picked by an MTV show or win the lottery.

But – plastics make it possible. Since 2015, a German company has been offering clients their very own, 3D-printed vehicle – with the entire list of add-ons anyone could desire. So what if it’s a tad smaller than the real thing. The only question is whether dad will allow junior to have some time with the Bobby Car he ordered to fulfil his own dream…
