German distributor Velox (Hamburg; www.velox.com) has developed a purge compound for use in extrusion lines and injection moulding. Three variants of “CleanPlus” express purge compounds are available to improve colour and material changes and for machinery shutdowns.

The compound is ready to use without mixing or predrying and is unabrasive and safe to handle. It can also provide for quicker cooling down of extrusion lines, allowing easier pulling of the screw without sticking, the company said. It can be used with blown film, in sheet or pipe extrusion and in injection moulding and is suitable for polymers including PO, PP, PVC, TPU and TPE.
