The next “Arabplast” fair (www.arabplast.info) will take place in Dubai / United Arab Emirates from 8-10 January 2017. Organised by Al Fajer Information & Services (Dubai / UAE; www.alfajer.net) and Messe Düsseldorf (Düsseldorf / Germany; www.messe-duesseldorf.de), the three-day event is considered to be the region’s leading plastics, petrochemicals and rubber industry showcase. During its last edition, in 2015, the fair drew about 900 exhibitors from 41 different countries and some 27,000 visitors, making it 38% bigger than the 2013 Arabplast.

The member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) accounted for 13% of total global petrochemical output in late 2015, and produced about 136m t of related products in 2014, data published by the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA, Dubai / United Arab Emirates; www.gpca.org.ae) show (see Plasteurope.com of 08.12.2015). The region's plastics consumption is set to grow further, partly as a result of a drive towards "green buildings", as well as substantial investments in downstream processing.
