Food-contact grades added to “Elastollan” TPU portfolio
Major German chemicals company BASF (Ludwigshafen; www.basf.com) has added food-contact (FC) grades to its “Elastollan” TPU range. The new portfolio comprises numerous ether- and ester-based grades and is produced using the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) system of quality assurance.
The Elastollan FC grades, which will be available from January 2016, comply both with EU regulations governing food-contact applications and the standards of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). They can be used in a wide range of injection-moulding and extrusion applications, from conveyor belts, films and fabrics through to hoses.
