SOLVAY SPECIALTY POLYMERS
Chase Plastic distributing “Amodel” PPA range in the US
Solvay Specialty Polymers (Alpharetta, Georgia / USA; www.solvayspecialtypolymers.com) has appointed Chase Plastics Services (Clarkston, Michigan / USA; www.chaseplastics.com) as the newest US distributor for its “Amodel” range of polyphthalamide (PPA) resins. The collaboration took effect on 1 October 2015. Chase Plastic joins Nexeo Solutions (The Woodlands, Texas / USA; www.nexeosolutions.com), which also markets the grades in the US. Both companies also distribute Solvay’s “Ryton” PPS range.

Solvay Specialty Polymers recently expanded its Amodel AE-8900 range for automotive electronics applications through the addition of five glass fibre-reinforced grades with glass filler content ranging from 30% to 60% – see Plasteurope.com of 04.11.2015. Today the Amodel family is made up of more than 100 different grades. The semi-crystalline thermoplastic is characterised by “excellent” mechanical properties, dimensional stability, elevated thermal performance and good processability, the company said, adding that aside from automotive applications, it is also used in the transportation, industrial equipment, water handling, E&E, coatings, composites and consumer goods sectors, among others.
