PROCAP
Luxembourg-based plastic caps producer changes its name to United Caps / Plans for future expansions
In what constitutes “the beginning of the path to expanding our horizons,” plastic closures and caps producer Procap (Wiltz / Luxembourg; www.procap.com) has changed its name to United Caps (www.unitedcaps.com). The new name embodies a combination of the company’s past success and future ambitions and signifies its commitment to a one-company global approach, Procap said in a press release. The company will continue to be managed by CEO Benoît Henckes.

When announcing the name change, Procap said its strategy is supported by major investments on the part of its shareholders, which have allowed it to enter new markets, expand its portfolio and raise its innovation platform. While some of these initiatives have already been launched or completed – including for instance a new facility in Ireland, which started up in 2013, as well as the 2014 upgrade at Hoboken / Belgium (see Plasteurope.com of 23.10.2014) and the impending start-up of a new plant in Schwerin / Germany – others will only be announced in the future. Procap had acquired the Schwerin plant in 2013 from Schoeller Plast Industries (Pullach / Germany; www.schoeller-plast.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 09.04.2013.

The group recently set up cross-functional teams that have been tasked with specific challenges. These teams are aimed at reducing time to market for new products as well as finding ways of enhancing existing solutions and processes. One of the locations where this is done is its centralised R&D lab in Messia / France.

Procap’s workforce of more than 490 is spread across plants in Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg and Spain. The company last posted sales of EUR 116m.
