PLASTICS PACKAGING
Investors probably plan stock market launch for Klöckner Pentaplast and Mauser
The international finance markets are rife with rumours that two big plastics packaging companies with German roots are soon to be listed on the stock market. The "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung" (FAZ), for example, referring to its usual well-informed circles, reports that investor Strategic Value Partners (SVP, Greenwich, Connecticut / USA; www.svpglobal.com) is currently searching for a consultant to prepare the stock market launch of rigid films manufacturer Klöckner Pentaplast (kp, Montabaur / Germany; www.kpfilms.com).
Last autumn it was said that investment company SVP had put its plans to sell off kp on hold for the second time (see Plasteurope.com of 28.10.2014). The stock market launch would thus be the third attempt by SVP to dispose of Klöckner Pentaplast at a profit. It acquired the company in 2012. According to FAZ, a listing is planned in the United States.
The report also says SVP has been observing with great interest the also rumoured attempts by investment group Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R, New York / USA; www.cdr-inc.com) to float German Mauser Group (Brühl; www.mausergroup.com), which it only acquired last year – see Plasteurope.com of 15.05.2014. The idea is that the world's leading manufacturer of rigid industrial packaging (mainly drums) should profit from the good mood on the US stock markets, where key US competitor Greif (Delaware / Ohio; www.greif.com) is also quoted.
