German IBC producer increases foothold in China / Acquisition of 50% stake in Guangzhou Fanshun Elan Plastech
Mauser Group (Brühl / Germany; www.mausergroup.com) on 1 July acquired a 50% stake in Guangzhou Fanshun Elan Plastech (Guangzhou / China; www.fanshunelan.com), an IBC producer with plants in Shanghai and Jiangyin. The purchase price was not disclosed. The German company acquired the shares from Time Technoplast (Mumbai / India; www.timetechnoplast.com), which had previously operated Fanshun Elan as a 50:50 joint venture with Fanshun Group (Shanghai / China; www.fanshun.com.cn).
Following the purchase, Fanshun Elan will be integrated into Mauser’s existing IBC jv with Fanshun and renamed as Guangzhou Fanshun Mauser. The investment will increase the group’s footprint in southern China, and also reaffirms its global growth. Commenting on the deal, Fanshun Mauser general manager Philippe Larretgere said, “We see tremendous growth opportunity for IBCs in China and the addition of the south China plant to our existing operations in eastern China will enable us to serve customers more efficiently with our superior product range of IBCs.”
Mauser set up its own facility in Jiangyin, near Shanghai, in 2012 – for details, see Plasteurope.com of 13.09.2012.
