TEKNI-PLEX
Acquisition of two Italian facilities from Gallazzi / Blisterpack portfolio widened / Food and technical PVC film and sheet
Tekni-Plex Europe (Erembodegem / Belgium), a subsidiary of packaging and tubing materials specialist Tekni-Plex (King of Prussia, Pennsylvania / USA; www.tekni-plex.com), is to acquire the adhesive tape substrate film businesses of PVC film specialist Gallazzi (Minerbio, Bologna / Italy). The deal includes facilities in Tradate and Gallarate in Lombardy / Italy. The acquisition, financial details of which were not disclosed, is expected to close in the second quarter of 2015.
The Tradate site manufactures PVC film and PVDC coated barrier films for pharmaceutical blister applications to international standards. The facility also produces PVC films for food packaging and technical PVC films and sheets. The Gallarate location produces thin PVC films used for adhesive-tape substrates.
Paul Young, CEO of Tekni-Plex, said the Italian company’s manufacturing capabilities and products complemented the existing Tekni-Films business. “The acquisition will add mono-PVC calendaring capabilities to our blister portfolio in Europe, as well as state-of-the-art PVDC coating which will strengthen our barrier blister technology base. These new capabilities will provide our customers with high-quality, innovative films and sheets to support their business needs,” he added.
Gallazzi’s Minerbio / Italy and Saint-Maur-des-Fosses / France locations are not part of the sale.
